One Planet Cardiff Festival

The weekend of 15th – 16th June is a celebration of One Planet Cardiff. This is an aspiration to make Cardiff a one planet city by 2050. To do this we all need to become one planet citizens.

On Saturday 15th June there will be a family friendly festival in and around the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay, between 11am and 5pm. Solar powered music and entertainment, bike chic fashion show, activities, entertainment, information and a market place.

On Sunday 16th June there is a film festival at Chapter Arts Centre, films and debates on the one planet themes.

Upcycled Stop Animation Workshop hosted by Make More Films and Green City

A workshop for 8-14 yr olds, creating stop animation using materials found in our recycling bags. A fun and creative way to engage with environmental issues.

Fair Trade Song Competition 2013

Want to create a Fair Trade song for your school?
• Fancy the chance to win a trophy and have your song professionally recorded?
• Take part in the Fair Trade Song Competition 2013!

The competition is open to all schools in Wales and the theme this year is ‘Our Fair Trade Nation’. It’s a great way for children to learn more about Fair Trade, develop their musical skills and put their creative writing to the test!

How to get involved –

  • Step 1 – Create your song (music and lyrics)
  • Step 2 – Record a performance of the song
  • Step 3 – Send it to the judging panel!

Shortlisted schools will perform at the Wales World Trade Fair in Abergavenny on Sunday 6th October 2013 in a Grand Final! (there is some funding available to help with travel costs). Click on the information sheet below for details of how to enter…

The event will be held in the The Urdd Centre
Cardiff Bay

9.30am – 3.00pm
 
The aim of the day will be to supply schools with information, ideas and resources around sustainable activities.
Workshop providers include Sustrans and Dwr Cymru Welsh Water.
Schools attending will receive a £50 voucher to support their future actions.
